BEST Institute was started with the intention of sharing my knowledge with
other fellow surgeons. During this journey, many conferences and workshops
have been conducted. Skills training is the highlight of this Institute.

This was the first single theme conference organized in India. BEST Institute & Research Centre associated with St. Martha’s Hospital and introduced surgeons to the evolving science of Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery. This was a time when surgeons in the country were adaptlng to the practice of laparoscopic surgery. It was quite convincing to perform basic laparoscopic surgeries like diagnostic procedures, chlolecystectomy and appendicectomy. But there was a lot of skepticism about performing hernia repair using laparoscopic surgery. There were a handful of surgeons who had convincingly started performing laparoscopic hernia surgeries, but it was imminent to convey the message that laparoscopic hernia surgery is feasible though had a steep learning curve. Time had come to honestly evaluate how laparoscopic hernia surgery compared with traditional open hernia surgery in a large scientific forum.
